Vacancy: Senior Writer / Analyst /
We’re looking for a Senior Writer / Analyst (six-month fixed term contract) to join our team in London as part of our Content function
Your Role: You will be responsible for writing long-form articles about brands and advertising. You’ll interview the people behind the world’s most creative marketing campaigns and biggest brands, as well as interview experts from a variety of fields, including academia, business and technology. No matter the subject, you’ll be able to draw out valuable learnings for the advertising and marketing community.
Although you will be directed as to what you should cover and who to interview, you’ll also be expected to pitch suggestions for the topics, companies and ideas we should be featuring and make the case for why a particular piece is timely, interesting and relevant for the Contagious audience. You’ll delve deep into a range of subjects from the most innovative and successful brands to the key issues pertinent to marketers today.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview the brands and agencies behind the most creative marketing from around the globe. Ask pertinent questions that delve into the strategy and insights behind the campaigns, leaving the reader with a better understanding why they were so effective.
- Write deep dives of up to 3,000 words on the most exciting brands based on desk research and original interviews with experts, marketers and ad agencies. Your copy should draw out relevant learnings for our readers based on your analysis.
- Pitch ideas for expert interviews from the worlds of academia, marketing, business and technology that are relevant to Contagious. Deliver articles based on these topics that explain complex subjects in a clear and compelling way.
- Determine the key challenges facing marketers today and interview experts in the field to produce concise how-to guides on how to tackle these problems.
- Offer valuable insights to our readers through a clear understanding and knowledge of marketing and how it drives business outcomes.
- Create summaries of academic papers relevant to advertisers and marketers.
- Attend and contribute to editorial meetings, taking an active role in the discussion.
Your Experience
- Ability to submit a copy to deadline that is factually correct, well-researched and written in a clear, concise and engaging manner.Sound understanding of marketing and technology.
- Genuine interest and curiosity around advertising, technology and business. You’ll also be able to connect the dots between creativity and business.
- Proven long-form writing experience. You don’t need a journalistic background, but you should be able to structure a compelling narrative and cohesive argument based on multiple interviews and thorough research.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
